UGAME is a small, deliberately narrow library of browser games: about 1,100 titles on eight shelves — Arcade, Puzzle, Adventure, Sports, Strategy, Board, Classics and Junior. A game earns a place here when three things hold: it opens in a browser tab with no plugin and no download, one input method is enough to play it on a laptop screen and on a phone, and its first two minutes explain themselves without a tutorial video.

What we are not is a mirror of a game portal. We do not republish a distribution partner's store copy as if it were our own writing, we do not put a game behind a sign-up wall, and we do not list a title simply because it exists. Not everything a partner offers makes it in — plugins from the Flash era, pages that hijack the back button, and reskins of games already on the shelf are the usual reasons a title is turned down.

The library is re-checked on a weekly sweep. An embed that stops loading is pulled the same week it is found, and the note at the top of a game page is revised when the game changes underneath it. When a game goes, its page goes with it rather than sitting there as an empty frame.

Who it is for: people with ten minutes and a browser. A school laptop, a work break, a tablet on the sofa. No account, no download, no newsletter, no launcher.
