If the ball keeps overshooting the cup, draw a small lip or backstop behind the target to catch it. When a straight line fails, try a curve, since curves bleed off speed smoothly. And before you draw anything, take a second to trace the ball's likely path in your head; one thoughtful line beats five frantic ones.
